John Barr is a certified USPTA tennis professional and has been the director of tennis at Greenmont Racquet Club since 1980. His unique brand of instruction along with a keen ability to match players to game styles has enabled him to help many players obtain high Midwest ratings as well as reach top 10 national rankings. He has also helped the local high schools secure state titles and provided many people a lifetime of enjoyment through tennis. John is an Elite member of the Prince Advisory Staff and has served on many boards in both USPTA and USTA.
Rick Rhoades is a certified USPTA tennis professional. He was a state tennis champion at PSHS and played collegiate tennis at West Liberty University where he was All-American. He has taught tennis professionally in Chicago, Pittsburgh and Cleveland. We are pleased to have him join our staff at GRC.
Jay Carter has been a member of the Greenmont Staff for several years. He has been coaching tennis for 21 years and is currently serving as Head Tennis Coach of the Williamstown High School tennis team. He was formerly with the Parkersburg High tennis team. Jay is currently serving as the WVSSAC tennis rules interpreter. In 1994, 1997 and 2000 was regional tennis coach of the year; 2000 and 2003 was tennis coach of the year and in 2004 was National federation high school coach of the year.
Dave McDowell was a member of the Rio Grande University basketball team and tennis team where he held the #1 position. Dave created and organized the St. Marys High School Tennis team where he coached for 7 years. He has a BS degree from Rio Grande University and a Masters degree from WVU. He has taught at Greenmont Racquet Club and been director/instructor of the Southwood Tennis program for over 20 years.
